My name in real life is Denise Chaffee. My husband Rick Horowitz has, for a long time now, called me Bunny (this from a children’s book called Guess How Much I Love You.) When we got married we joked that we should merge our last names and Bunny Chafowitz was born!
I started gardening when I was a little girl. My grandmother and mother loved to garden and instilled in me the love of getting my hands dirty and growing things. Add to that the fact that my father was, to say the least, an environmentalist, and you get me – Bunny, lover of all things nature.
In 2007 I participated in a 16-week training course provided by University of California Cooperative Extension and became a Certified Master Gardener. In order to keep my certification, I must log in 25 volunteer hours and 12 hours of continuing education time each year. Needless to say, I keep up with the latest gardening news, trends, and information.
I’ve been gardening for over 40 years and know a thing or two about what to do and more importantly, what not to do in the garden. I hope you enjoy my Bunny Tales of gardening adventures and pick up some tips and tricks along the way!
